Connecting the dots: HPC.NRW at ISC High Performance 2025

The ISC High Performance 2025, which took place from June 10 to 13 in Hamburg, was a great success for HPC.NRW and the entire HPC community.

With over 3,500 participants as well as 195 technology providers, the event was an important forum for exchanging the latest developments in High Performance Computing, Artificial Intelligence, Data Analytics, and Quantum Computing. Under the motto "Connecting the Dots", the focus was on the integration of various technologies to create innovative solutions for complex challenges.

HPC.NRW once again presented itself at the Gauß-Allianz booth and informed attendees about the offerings and structures of the competence network. The presence at ISC was an excellent opportunity to showcase the HPC infrastructure and projects in North Rhine-Westphalia.

Another highlight for HPC.NRW was the Sofa Talks at the neighboring NHR Association booth, which offered interesting discussions on current HPC topics in a relaxed atmosphere. One of the key topics was an exchange regarding the further development of the MPI standard. Marc-André Hermanns, the current working group lead for tool interfaces in the MPI standard, provided an overview of the new and extended interfaces that are to be introduced with the next version of the MPI standard following MPI 5.0. Furthermore, HPC.NRW members were actively involved in the NHR Quantum Optimization Tutorial, organized by various NHR centers.

With a variety of workshops, talks, and networking opportunities, ISC 2025 was a significant event that provided numerous opportunities for knowledge exchange and networking.

It’s a wrap! The next ISC High Performance will take place from June 21 to 26, 2026, in Hamburg.
