HPC.nrw Project Meeting at Ruhr University Bochum

Strengthening cross-site collaboration

On 9 March, the HPC.nrw project meeting took place at Ruhr-Universität Bochum. Representatives from all thirteen cooperation sites participated, enabling intensive cross-site exchange and joint coordination within the third funding phase.

A central focus of the meeting was the further development of the hpcCluster.nrw systems, comprising the hpcFachCluster.nrw in Paderborn, Aachen, and within the Ruhr Alliance Duisburg–Essen, each with specific thematic focuses, as well as the hpcBasisCluster.nrw in Cologne. Discussions addressed the current status of hardware deployment and system installation, including infrastructure implementation and procurement processes, as well as ongoing coordination between the operator sites regarding access pathways for authorized institutions.

In addition, the project members worked intensively within the work packages Project Management (WP1), Coordinated User Support (WP2), Operational Cooperation (WP4), and Joint Innovation Activities (WP4). Progress was reviewed, milestones were defined, priorities were aligned, and the next steps for further project implementation were planned.

The in-person meeting provided space for in-depth discussions and close coordination across all sites, thereby strengthening the coordinated development of HPC infrastructure in North Rhine-Westphalia.
